Multitel UK: a consolidated presence for truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts in the United Kingdom

From the beginning to growth

The British branch of Multitel Pagliero S.p.A., Multitel UK Ltd, was officially established in October 2018, with operations starting in January 2019, led by Greg Moore, UK & Ireland General Sales Manager, and his colleague Ian Thomson, Senior Service Engineer.

At the beginning, both mainly worked from home and on the road, until the first depot was acquired in Luton in September 2019. The location was strategically chosen, just 15 km from central London, close to the airport and the M1 motorway.

“The decision to open a direct branch in the UK was driven by the need to strengthen the Multitel brand’s presence and to develop a true technical service structure for local customers,” explains Greg Moore. Before that, sales were handled sporadically by a distributor, without a structured support network: customers struggled to access spare parts and assistance. With the creation of the UK branch and the addition of local engineers, this scenario changed radically.

In the past seven years, the branch has experienced steady growth, consolidating sales of new truck-mounted platformsspider lifts, and after-sales support throughout the UK and Ireland.

Team and organisation

Today, Multitel UK Ltd employs seven full-time staff: four service engineers, one administrative employee, and two sales representatives. Connected directly to the headquarters in Manta (CN), Italy, the team has a clear reporting structure: Greg, Alan and Clayton report directly to Roberto Marangoni, International Sales & Marketing Director, while the engineers report to Luca Rubiolo, Service, Parts & Training Manager.

Recruitment focuses on skilled professionals with industry experience, capable of delivering technical expertise and customer care, supported by in-house training to align with Multitel’s standards. The company culture is marked by strong team spirit, collaboration, and open discussion, fostering continuous improvement in customer management.

Activities, services and platforms

The UK branch offers a comprehensive range of services for Multitel truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts:

  • Sales of new truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts
  • Technical assistance, warranty services and spare parts supply for new and used platforms
  • Support and maintenance also on customers’ used machines
  • Training and familiarisation with new models
  • Participation in exhibitions and demo events across the UK

The most in-demand models on the UK market are mainly 20 to 25-metre working height platforms, including HX200EX, MZ250, MJ201, MTE270EX, MJE250 and SMX250.2.

Multitel UK serves a wide variety of customers, from small private companies to major rental firms, including Height For Hire, Smart Platform Rentals, GT Access, JMS Ltd, P G Platforms, Affordable Access, as well as maintenance companies such as RMLFS Ltd and Practical Roofing Ltd.

The UK market is characterised by a strong demand for medium-sized truck-mounted platforms, historically less focused on higher working heights compared to Italy. However, interest in expanding Multitel’s range is steadily growing.

Success stories and results

Among the most significant achievements, Greg Moore highlights:

  • The growth of customer fleets, for example GT Access Ltd, which expanded from just a few machines to a fleet of around 20 Multitel platforms
  • Securing strategic new contracts, such as the supply of 18 units to Tui Airlines, including 11 MJ201 and 7 MS100
  • Building long-lasting relationships of trust with customers, thanks to fast technical assistance and reliable after-sales support, which remain the true strengths of the branch

The adaptability and dedication of the UK team emerged right from the beginning, when newly hired Greg and Ian solved a fault on a demo MZ250 in the pouring rain, facing technical issues and unexpected challenges but ultimately fixing the machine and resuming their demo tour.

Work philosophy and future vision

Multitel UK fully embraces the MiM – Made in Multitel philosophy, the common thread that connects all the company’s facilities: innovation, quality and reliability, applied daily in every task. This approach unites all Multitel people, from Italy to the UK, in a single shared vision.

For Multitel UK, three pillars stand out as priorities: listening to customers, understanding their needs, and providing concrete solutions, with a particular focus on service and technical support.

Future goals include:

  • Expanding the team with new engineers and sales/marketing staff
  • Growing the fleet of available truck-mounted platforms
  • Taking greater advantage of opportunities in the used equipment market, which is still underdeveloped

The UK branch maintains close collaboration with the Italian headquarters, with clear processes for orders, accounting and technical support, ensuring rapid responses and effective coordination.

Multitel UK: reliability and customer proximity

In less than seven years, Multitel UK Ltd has grown from a small two-person team into a structured and dynamic branch, offering sales, technical assistance and training of the highest quality on truck-mounted platforms and spider lifts.

A company that combines technical expertise, fast service and strong customer relationships to serve the UK and Irish markets with the excellence and philosophy of MiM – Made in Multitel.
