JORGE ALTAMIRANO – GLOBETROTTING TECHNICAL TRAINER

Il Technical Trainer di Multitel Pagliero a Colloquio con la Sua Squadra

As a Multitel Pagliero Technical Trainer, Jorge Altamirano instructs the technical staff of dealers, customers and workshops. A true globetrotter who travelled throughout Europe in 2024 and also made two transoceanic journeys: one to Ecuador which, for now, has the only Multitel Pagliero truck-mounted platform of South America (MZ 250) and the other to Canada, to the dealer SOS Equipment. Challenging, but no problem for Jorge. Born in Mendoza (Argentina) in 1986, he grew up in the shadow of Aconcagua, the highest mountain in South America (6,962m) and amid the breathtaking scenery of the Andean Mountain Range. Although he has experience as a guide and an instructor of trekking, climbing, rafting, mountain biking and canyoning, his love of the outdoors, adventure and sports did not stop him from graduating as an electronics specialist and from furthering his studies in computer engineering. Skills that he has very successfully put to good use in Multitel Pagliero for the past two years.

One of his more memorable recent experiences has been in Canada where, from 9 to 13 December 2024, he was working in Montreal, Quebec, at SOS Equipment,  a dealer specialised in the rental and sale of lifting equipment across the country. During a week at temperatures ranging between -15° and -20°C, the company’s six technicians participated in a daily programme of 9 hours of theory and practice to learn all the knowledge required to operate the new truck-mounted platform kits on their own. With the young and well-trained experts of SOS Location, Jorge Altamirano worked on the assembly, calibration and adjustment of the telescopic models MTE270 EX and MT162 EX mounted on Canadian Mercedes Sprinter trucks. Operationally, the technical aspects of each stage were covered individually – in the classroom and on the machine – followed by a test and a final inspection where potential diagnostic errors were simulated. On the other hand, everything relating to the boom outreach limiter was explored remotely, via videocall from Manta.

The trip to Canada, which is known for its warm hospitality, was clearly not just about work. Each day concluded with team-building exercises reflecting Jorge’s spirit of adventure, such as indoor surfing or laser tag. As for 2025, the technical training programme already has four destinations scheduled: Spain, Slovenia, Norway and India.
