Operating in the dense urban landscape of London, where access is often limited and tree work requires precision and safety, having the right equipment is essential. For this reason, Thor’s Trees a professional arboriculture company based in London, has recently added a Multitel MZ 250 truck-mounted platform to its fleet.

Founded in 2015 by Lawrence-Thor Stephen, Thor’s Trees (www.ThorsTrees.co.uk), has grown into a well-established, award-winning tree care company serving London and the surrounding areas. The business specialises in the management and care of mature, large and technically complex trees, working with a wide range of clients including homeowners, estates, commercial properties and public sector organisations.

Operating in challenging urban environments across London and the South East, the company needed a platform capable of combining strong outreach with compact dimensions and ease of operation.

The choice of the MZ 250

Thor’s Trees selected the Multitel MZ 250, a truck-mounted articulated platform installed on a 3.5-tonne vehicle, offering a maximum working height of 25.10 m and a horizontal outreach of 14.35 m.

The platform allows a basket capacity of 250 kg up to 10.35 m outreach, providing an ideal balance between reach, stability and compact size — a key requirement when working on busy urban streets or residential sites.

Thanks to the articulated jib, the MZ 250 can also operate in negative positions down to –2.5 m, increasing versatility when operating around tree canopies or obstacles. The 400° turret rotation and the self-levelling basket

(1.40 x 0.70 m) with 90° + 90° rotation allow operators to position themselves accurately on the work area.

The machine is equipped with electro-hydraulic proportional controls and the MUSA Multitel management system, which optimises performance according to load, boom rotation and stabiliser configuration. Hydraulic stabilisers, designed and manufactured entirely by Multitel Pagliero, ensure quick and safe positioning even in restricted spaces.

Additional features include internal boom routing for pipes and cables to protect components from damage, a start/stop system in the basket to optimise fuel consumption, and an integrated telemetry system enabling remote monitoring, GPS localisation and diagnostics.

A valuable addition to the fleet

For Thor’s Trees, the new platform is already proving its value when working on large and technically demanding trees in complex urban settings.

“The MZ 250 has been a fantastic addition to our fleet. It’s a powerful and well-engineered machine that allows us to work more efficiently and safely, especially on complex tree work where access is challenging. We’ve been very impressed not only with the performance of the platform but also with the professionalism and support from the Multitel team. It’s clear they take pride in both their machines and their relationships with customers.”
said Lawrence-Thor Stephen, Founder and CEO of Thor’s Trees.

Greg Moore, UK & Ireland Sales Manager at Multitel Pagliero, commented:

“Urban arboriculture requires machines that combine reach, stability and compact dimensions. The MZ 250 has been designed to meet exactly these needs, allowing operators to work safely and efficiently even in restricted spaces. We are delighted to see Thor’s Trees using our platform in such a demanding environment and look forward to supporting their team as their business continues to grow.”

With its combination of compact design, operational precision and strong outreach, the Multitel MZ 250 proves to be an ideal solution for arboricultural applications, helping professionals carry out complex tree work safely and efficiently in dense urban environments.
